I have about 15 acres of clear land that isn't used for anything except hunting. I figured I might as well plant some trees on it to harvest in the future. Is there any good forestry management companies in TN who will handle this type of thing or do consulting for something like this? I don't really have the time to do all of the planting right now so I would probably hire that out. I'm open to any suggestions on companies to use, species to plant, etc... Thanks.

You need to need an idea of when you think you might want to harvest. That will help you decide what you need to plant. ...but yea, contact the Forestry Dept.

Plant them while you're young..... \:D \:D
Contact the state nursery in Pinson and they will provide free trees...then locate some Mexicans looking for work and you're done.

Yup, contact your area forester. You may also qualify for cost share assistance.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'm 27 now so maybe I could see them harvested in my lifetime.

Check out Paulonia trees (sp.) I have some growing wild on my land. They are said to be some of the most expensive wood in the world. They are highly prized in the orient to make musical instruments, and jewelry boxes.
