Does anyone know of any sporting clays courses or skeet ranges within an hour of Knoxville. I am aware of one in gatlinburg, but was wondering if there were any others.

Birds and Clays in Washburn, one in Friendsville, and one off 411 in Blount County. Can't remember either one of their names though.

Short Creek Sporting Clays is down in Riceville just below Athens. I understand it is a world class operation. I don't know anything about sporting clays but can only relate what I've heard. Here's their number (423) 745-3498 .

There is one in Tellico Plains called Heritage Meadows and the guy who owns Benton Shooters Supply has one on his property. Both are about the nicest around. Short Creek close to Athens has been closed for years as far as I know, and the club in Friendsville was bought out by Blackberry Farms and is now private. I havent shot at Chilhowee off of 411 yet and have heard that its not as nice as the 2 I mentioned.

I must have had that wrong about the course. About a month or two ago a fellow was talking about sporting clays at the Chilhowee Rod & Gun Club and I must have gotten it wrong. He was probably talking about the one in Benton as that was mentioned at the same time. I didn't pay enough attention! Thanks for the correction.

Isn't there one near Louisville in Blount county? I know they have a nice trap range. I forget the name of the range over there.

Thats the one I was refering to in Friendsville. It used to be called Smoky Mountain Sports Club. I worked there when they opened in 1994. The original owners leased it to a guy about 4 years ago, then he sold out to Blackberry Farms, and it is now a private club. Stay tuned, I am sure that will change one of these days.
