saw 11, killed 10, took until 11 am to kill last one. Very slow, no feed at all in this spot.

Glade I went to LBL last sat. for it was windy in my neck of the woods. Not bad more than I wanted to hunt in.

where I went, there were plenty of hickory but a lot of squirrels were congregating on one hickory in particular. That's where I killed the 4. Thick leaf cover made for tough shots, should be nice when the leaves come off but then I will be deer hunting.

i truely think now is the best hunting. seems easy when the leaves are off, but they dont tolerate movement as well and when the guns start popping they are less apt to move. its a learning curve tracking them through the thick canopy and shooting quickly and accurately on such a small target. with time and experience your numbers will grow. the foliage works for u as much as it works against you.

I cant say for sure, but I think the best hunting would be from the treestand while deer hunting. I never see as many squirrels as when sitting for hours in a tree. problem is, nobody wants to shoot squirrels and risk spooking deer...

only 1 but I really didn't put in the effort. spent more time prepping the campsite. but I know where to go next time. there was a carpet of hickory nut cuttings and the 3 big hickories were full of squirrels.

Killed four yesterday evening, missed a couple more.
Hunting was a little tough, I figured they would be cutting hickories and for the life of me I didn't hear a one cutting. Finally changed tactics and headed for a little grove of black gums, they were eatin the heck out of them.

Killed 5 in less than an hour yesterday evening. Could of killed more but I hate cleaning the little buggers and since i'm the only one who eats tree rats I quit at five.
BTW they were all in a little stand of white oaks cutting the heck out of the acorns. Also ran 4-5 deer off in the same spot they were munching the acorns as well. This is the best acorn crop I have seen on my farm in 13 years.
