Have a good crop of hickories and walnuts at my place. Acorns are small and not finished growing yet.

Only going to have a very short time to scout before opening morning. What are they eating in your neck of the woods?
Where should I start my scouting?

I'm seeing some cutting under sweet pignut hickories and chestnut oaks. Also black gums are getting hit a bit. Looks like squirrel numbers are down a bit on my place at this point.

They havent bothered the hickories much here yet. Most of the cuttings I have seen are on pine cones. Ive got a thicket of pines that they have been tearing up!

I have mainly found them in pignuts so far, but it's early. I did find one oak tree (what I call overcup) with a considerable amount of cuttings.
