Cool snake. Looks like he may have a drinkin' problem though. Probably why he was docile.

Yes, that is another name for them.

Maybe the contents of that bottle had mellowed him!

Awesome! i almost stepped on a 3 1/2 ft black racer scouting Sunday. I can't repeat what I said either \:D but it just slithered away, so everything turned out ok.

Nice one! Sad to see the trash on the ground though.

This part of the refuge is below the high water mark of Kentucky Lake and the river takes a 90 degree turn north. When the river floods, everything you can imagine washes up into this area. There are navigation bouys lying up here that broke their anchor lines. If it floats it's laying up in this area. A shame to see it but I don't think it could be cleaned up. It would take a massive undertaking to do it.

I almost stepped on a 10 inch chicken snake in my garage last week and can't repeat what I said, either.

The camera would have been shaking too much for anyone to identify what was in the picture if I was that close to that rattlesnake.

Here's one I found on the road near my place a couple of years ago. I was able to measure him by laying a stick down near him to get a reference, and then measuring the stick. He was right at 5' 8", which is theoretically as big as they get.
