this will be my first season up a tree with a crossbow. Do most people take the quiver off and hang it on the tree. ( i do that when bow hunting) and do you hang your crossbow or keep it in your lap?

I did... until the retaining part broke, so now it gets hung off the side of the stand, lol.

I remove my quiver once I pull my crossbow up my treestand.
I also keep my crossbow facing forward and in my lap. I just recently purchased this Bow Pack with quiver, to use this year. I ordered it last week and it arrived the next day. You can remove the quiver and hang it separate from the pack if wanted.
Its a real nice bow pack and quiver.

I remove mine and hang it on the side of my stand. My crossbow is a little too front heavy if I leave the quiver attached. I either keep my bow on my lap or balanced across the shooting rail on the stand.

Same as the others, I take it off as soon as I get settled into my stand. It's a lot easier to maneuver without it on. I also just rest the stock in my lap and keep the limbs across the shooting rail on my stand.

Like you, I thought the crossbow backpack thing would be the real deal. But, when I missed an opportunity with a nice buck (that I haven't seen since except for my cameras), I stopped putting the bow on the backpack. He thought I was another buck with the limbs of the bow behind my head. He was pissed...Just food for thought...There is no way you can remove that bow when he is staring at you from a few yards away. It may never happen to you.

My quiver usually stays on, as it hangs over the shooting rail.

Thanks, but I'm not hanging my crossbow on my pack.

My bad Allchoke, I thought you were hiking to your stand with the crossbow on your back like the backpack is intended for. You never know what you might walk up on during that hike to your stand...

I take it off. To easy to bang against something with arrows sticking out.

I always take my quiver off and I keep my crossbow in my lap. The less movement the better.

I remove both quiver and sling once in stand. All of my stands have gun rails so it is rests across it rather well. The sling will always find a way to hook on anything.

I always remove mine. Gets in the way and removing it helps take a little weight off the nose.
