Yeah, the 22RE.

And with watered oil, I need to park this thing ASAP, right??

Nimrod - do I know you? send me a message with your # and I don't mind stopping by in the next few days to see what you've got going on since you're in Spring Hill.

HG repair on a 22re is NOT that bad, but yes - I'd suggest you park it asap. I think I may even have a HG for a 22re hanging in the shop... actually, I am 99% sure I do.

It's not rocket surgery to replace one \:\)

Put your hand over the radiator (where the cap goes) and see if it is pulsing (you can feel air blowing out of it). Sometimes it has to heat up to start pulsing. If so... head gasket, if not, maybe still head gasket. If it heats up be careful putting your hand there.. it will be hot steam.

Put your hand on the radiator. It may or may not be the head gasket. go to ER to treat burn and see if they know why you're losing fluid \:D

Glad to have any help on this, DRM, especially from a TNDeer brother!
I am volunteering at the middle school today, handing out textbooks, so I'm in town. Will shoot you a PM now!

I ran an old Isuzu truck for three years after an overheat event resulting in a known head gasket failure by using radiator stop leak pellets. She ran like a champ until one Christmas holiday I pulled the head and had it machined, threw in a new gasket, and ran her another 50K miles before I traded it.

No you just need 3 hands, small one's too. Get the head checked for cracks and milled flat too.

Best method assuming You have already checked the oil, I threw the disclaimer in there for good measure.

If you do it yourself PLEASE note this!!!!

There is an allen head screw about 6" long that holds the intake manifold(plenum) to the head. It is right behind the thermostat housing. Very hard to see/find and even more difficult to get to. Best to use an allen socket with a wobble adapter. I have had to take this job on many times from DIY'ers that beat the hell out of the plenum because this screw is not mentioned in the Chilton.
Also... please... if on any engine you ever work on you consider not getting the head machined... DO NOT consider it for this one. It is warped. Simply removing it will warp it. Get it machined or you will be right back in there in under 10k, I guarantee it.
