The UPS man "finally" showed up yesterday with my new Matrix 380. I spent an hour or so setting it up and putting it all together, pretty much cut and dried as far as set up goes. I did switch out the scope to a Hawke 1.5X5X32 I.R. though. The original scope looked bright enough but I'll have to say the Hawke is a better piece of glass.
I took it out for a test drive and after a few tweaks of the scope I had it shooting dead on at 30 yds. Just for giggles I tried one of my Barnett 20" bolts [yeah I know, your not "supposed" to use half moon nocks] but as long as you have the groove lined up with the string I can't see anyone having a problem. The Barnett bolts did shoot a couple of inches low which was to be expected but the point of aim was right on left and right. I then backed up to 50 yards and the bow was right on the money with the #3 crosshair. The Barnett bolt again was right on left and right but was around 8" low.
One thing for sure, my block target was no match for the Matrix, the first shot put the fletching out of sight. Of course my block does have a few years of use on it so that probably played a huge part. I fixed the problem by putting my Yellow Jacket backstop in front of the Block.
I still like my Barnett Quad 400 and will probably keep it around for a spare and let the wife use it, but the new Matrix is awesome!!!!
Why did I go with an Excalibur you might ask? Simply for the fact that it is relatively maintenance free, with a stringer you can change strings in the field and you can uncock it without firing a bolt at the end of the day. Also, Excaliburs have a lifetime warranty.
Thanks volsgo for steering me in the right direction, I be lovin my Matrix!!!

I have an Excalibur Exomag that is really super accurate. I looked at the NEW Matrix 380 at Benton Shooter's Supply a couple of weeks ago. Much smaller than my Exomag. Nice looking bow. At my age it's hard for me to justify the money especially when my Exomag shoots so well. Thanks for posting. Hope you harvest many many deer with your Matrix. BTW, I swapped strings on mine last weekend and it only took a couple of minutes. Didn't need a bow press or a bow shop to do it. Very impressive.

I returned my Matrix back to the place I bought it from.Junk..Horrible trigger, crap scope, and it sounds like someone takeing a alluminum baseball bat and whacking a power pole when it goes off,and horrible customer service.I called them 3 times trying to get help and got the run around all 3 times.Hope you have better luck than me.It'll be the last excal I own.

Man I hate it for you. I just can't understand how you had a savage that wouldn't shoot and now a matrix. It must be bad luck. Are you getting a different bow? If so good luck!

Yes. i returned the matrix and swaped it out for a tenpoint turbo xlt ii and litterally on the 2nd shot i robinhooded an arrow. this tenpoint is sweet shooting.and it proves it was the excal and not the shooter..

My savage is shooting now.. only after i put a pacnor on it put a factory laminate stock on it and had it glass bedded and a 3rd pillar installed. yes sir she shoots extreamly well.

Was browsing around in Dunhams this morning and noticed that Spitfire was having a special of sorts, four for the price of three. I've been wanting to try out some 125 grainers so I shelled out the $39 and purchased a pack. Came home and put one of the new broadheads on a Diablo bolt and had at it.
All I can say is "awesome!!!!" I thought the 100 grainers shot well out of my Matrix but the 125's shoot to almost the same point of aim and are stacking them in there tight as heck. Good thing I was only shooting one bolt at a time or I would of cut the fletchings off, even out to 50 yards.
I think I'm set for the opener, 125 gr. Spitfires with the 18" Diablo bolts it shall be!!
