I usually hunt the same stands all year, and even though I can see farther when the leaves are down, I still manage to have the deer come in really close. I've shot some with a rifle that were within ten yards of me.

I've kept records of my last 50 kills, and either pace off or use a laser rangefinder for each one. Here are the numbers:

Bow: 16.0
ML: 42.6
Shotgun: 45.0
Rifle: 72.2

Overall: 46.9

Shortest: 3 yrds (Bow; I took one step from base of tree and picked up arrow.)
Longest: 220 yrds (.270)
It's not rocket surgery, for crying outside!
