When do you all usually see peak rut activity in the Nashville area? Back in WI, Halloween is always a day I try to be in stand because this is usually the peak of the pre-rut. Bucks are on their feet all day. The next 3-7 days, they begin breeding and can be a little less visible.

I will be in my stand as much as possible around the 16th as that is the day there were fawns wondering around looking lost last year. The day before I didn't see the first fawn by itself. This is on my property may be different on yours.

I hunt all I can from Nov 5th to the 12th. We've killed several mature bucks on Nov. 10th in the last few years, so if I had to pick one day that would be it.

The Nashville area, as well as the section of TN north of Nashville, appears to have a peak breeding week of Nov. 10-16. However, that is peak breeding. In my opinion, the week before peak breeding is your best bet for seeing mature bucks cruising during daylight, while peak breeding is best for seeing middle-aged bucks chasing during daylight.

BSK,

What about the area south of Franklin near 840 and I-65? Would you consider this the Nashville area or should I expect things to be a few days behind?

I would put northern Williamson County in with Nashville, but southern Williamson County appears to be later by 4 or 5 days.

First week of M/L has been the time to be in the woods at Springfield NW of nashville for us, taken a 140 and a 150 during this time one with a doe and the other seeking. I think the 3rd and 5th for me, 2 years apart. BSK seems to be right on target.

I'd bet he's referring to our area in SW TN, in particular, Fayette and Hardeman counties.
