Anyone know whatever became of Jimmy Holt? Or Glenn Smith? They used to do the Tennessee Outdoorsman show on PBS years ago. My uncle was a biologist of some sort and was on the show a time or two waaaay back and I started watching when I was probably six or seven years old.

Just curious about whatever became of them. The show is one of my permanent childhood memories now. Mainly that banjo theme music.

I used to work for a publishing company in Nashville and we did his cookbook and can't recall the title of it for nothing. Bowriter was on that show too. I watched it a lot. Seems like it was Saturday evenings if I remember correctly.

I went to school school with Holts grandson, I thought Mr. Holt passed away...I have been out of touch with his grandson so I am not 100% sure.

Loved that show and also loved Bill Halls show as well.

Now I think I have Jimmy and Bill confused, need to look up his grandson and catch up on old times.

I actually have that cookbook. It has a killer lemon chess pie recipe. My aunt bought it for me at Christmas one year. It was Mr. Holt and Vernon Summerlin. It's the Tennessee Outdoorsmen Cookbook.

Used to see Jimmy at the outdoor shows and at Center Hill lake with his brother years ago. My brother used to turn in a lot of fishing pictures from our fishing club (Nashville BassMasters) to Jimmy when he was with the news paper in Nashville. That goes back to the 70's and early 80's

I was on there many, many years ago with Glenn, Jimmy, and BW to discuss dove baiting. I think they realized that I was a little outside of my normal element and were pretty gentle with me that evening. It was fun. When I put those shows up where they actually tried to educate their viewing public as well as entertain against the infomercials that pass for outdoor tv today, there is no comparison in the value. The sportmen and women of mid-TN lost out big time when that show went away.

I'm thinking Larry Munson had his own show. Bill Clay was on "Woods N Water" with Bill Jay. Remember Clay's Sporting Goods in the Melrose area of Nashville. Jay always kidded Clay about selling rusty fish hooks in his store.

Yes it was Doug Markham. One of the nicest guys I know. I was on the show 3 or 4 times talking bowhunting. Nice bunch of people there.
SCN is right they were more interested in showing the viewers a new way or technique to do things, raise awareness and to educate people. Great bunch of guys. All except that one scruffy looking dude that always talked about the Cheatham WMA. What was his name???? \:D

Joe Thompson, Jimmy, SCN and the Ole Swauvey one. SCN can you remember what year?

the show was originally named Woods and Waters started by Bill Clay and Munson. Clay left, show renamed, Holt came on. Glenn Smith came on. He left, I came on, then Joe Thompson. Thompson left and I left soon after. Then Glenn Came back and I kinda lost track after that.

I still had a little hair and it wasn't gray, so it was a while back. I'm guessing it was '91-92 area.
