You say above the [censored] do you mean right at the base of the dam or on the lake...I want to put below and fish at the base...

You're asking if you can put in and take out at the same place, the campground below the dam? I'd say it totally depends upon your boat as to whether you can motor back upstream on no generators.

My Riverhawk with a 15 on it and similar oversized canoes can do it, but it's not that much fun. A bigger boat will bottom out too much. My jonboat with a 25 on it isn't even close to being able to do it. It just depends on how shallow you can run.

I like to put in on low water and fish the low water floating downstream. I make sure I know when the water's turning on and time it to get to me about when I'll be done fishing. I just motor back upstream to the put-in/take-out on that high water.

Or you can put in at high water but as it's falling out, motor way upstream until you hit low water, and float back down and fish the low water until you get back to your put-in/take-out. Obviously, that doesn't work if you put in at the campground/dam because there's nowhere to go upstream.

This whole system is predicated upon my preferring to fish low water, though. Fly fishermen often prefer the low water, but many of the conventional fishermen like more flow.

Thanks gil1...I floated down on Sunday on one generator and met a fellow fisher woman that said you can practically walk to the [censored] when they are not generating...So that answers that question...

We caught 2 rainbows half way between [censored] and happy hollow boat ramp...
