Pulling a disk with my truck. Round and 'round in tight circles in very hot weather caused the power-steering pump to burst, spraying volatile power-steering fluid all over the hot engine block, which in turned caused the fluid to vaporize into a big "cloud." When that cloud (I thought it was steam from a busted radiator hose or something) finally ignited, the whole front end of the truck went up in a fireball.

My brother-in-law and I--who were in the truck at the time--bailed out pretty quick!

It was hot enough to liquefy aluminum. The steering column melted.

Yea, I see that it melted a whole bunch of stuff. So, the fire was, at the very least 1200 degrees. Wow

Insurance Inspector said it exceeded 1,400 degrees.

BSK, your stories about trains, trucks, and tornadoes would be some GREAT material to add into the Duck Dynasty series!

I've had my share of adrenalin rushes while hunting, farming, and and chasing tornadoes, but I can't top your experiences!

I think we need to start a thread for members to share their hair-raising stories in.

Strangely, at the very instant it occurred, I wasn't that frightened by having my ATV ripped right out of my hands by a speeding locomotive. It wasn't until a couple of hours afterwards that the near-death experience finally sunk in. THEN I really got the shakes.

To this day, an involuntary shiver runs down my spine every time I hear a train whistle. It really creeps me out to even see a train go by close up. Feeling the vibrations and sounds close up makes me physically ill.
