trigger job question

Can you do a trigger job on a 1962 winchester lever action model 88 .308 I am guessing the trigger pull is around 8 pounds you really have to concentrate on squeezing the trigger to keep from pulling off the target

just guessing I do know it is a long way away from the 3 pounds that my .243 is
