Sorry that happened! Unfortunately for good people, there are always idiots out there. Sorry about the collision with the boat. Im sure the boat was good one. Just glad they weren't hurt!

Sad story...I have a friend that is a boat fiberglass specialist that can fix any boat out there...If interested I can put you in touch with him to estimate the repairs....

me too, I'd be more than pissed if someone hit my boat, or even my truck for that matter. They both are like extensions of my body to me.

Here's the story as it was related to me: the guy driving the car that hit dad's boat...he didn't call the county police. He called his dad first. Now this guy is in his 50s, and his dad in his 70s. The police got there about the same time the guy's dad did.

This whole time, the guy in the car is saying he wasn't at fault...despite the trajectory evidence showing otherwise. The police weren't having any part of that...and pointed out to the guy where he had crossed the line and hit, and where he ended up. There were several police officers that came to the call...and the higher ranking one was over there talking to the guy's dad...who is a preacher in the county. Well...evidently ole daddy had gotten his boy out of trouble before, and thought he was going to have this handled his way. Because as he was talking, he said aloud "I'm going to get this turned around right now" in reference to the police saying that his boy was at fault for the wreck. That didn't go well for him on the part of who was at fault...but the ranking officer that responded, didn't want to give the boy a drug test or anything like that. He was the one who knew the preacher man...that's what he called him was "preacher". The other officers wanted to give him some kind of test...they were all certain he was on something but they went off to talk among themselves and they didn't give him any kind of test. So in that aspect, I think ole "preacher dad" had something to do with that part of it.

At any rate...that's where that stands. The official report said it all; it showed he was 14 inches over the yellow center line when he made contact with the boat/trailer...would have liked to seen more done but there was a reason he called ole dad up to get him on the scene...and I guess it was to keep him from going to jail.

Tell the you want to be made "whole". Find comparable boats for sale, add in the cost of the time dealing with this, and damaged tackle, depth finders, etc. and come up with a number that will make your parents whole. In other words, have them on the water in the same condition they were before the accident. Don't settle for anything less.

If need be, hire a lawyer. I bet daddy preacher will pay up quick when his son is about to go to court, to "keep him or of trouble". A good attorney will probably call for the preachers son to be drug tested, and daddy preacher couldn't ever let that happen!

I'd file a civil suit and get everything I deserve from that bastard. Your Dad and Mom should get a good lawyer and claim their golden years have been ruined by the reckless and negligent acts or Mr. Silver Spoon and they are in constant mental distress and suffering depression because they can't enjoy their time together on the water. Take it to a jury, you'll win in McMinn county!

^^^^This^^^^^

I would also be talking to the "ranking officer's" supervisor and if necessary have his arse for not drug testing an impaired driver!
