Hopefully I will get some more pics when he sheds the velvet . I just hope he doesn't go nocturnal like they tend to do after they shed it .

I agree.
But in this case, I believe we're looking at a 170-plus gross set of antlers. That velvet isn't changing the tine length.

I have several pics of a clean 140 class 10 point in the same location . I'm not one to hunt a specific buck , but the big guy may change things up for me . I'm not going to put too much pressure on him that's for sure .
It's been a long time since I have been this excited about the upcoming season .
I have been passing up a bunch of younger bucks here , and focusing on managing the buck/ doe ratio on several tracts in this area . The surrounding tracts are under QDM as well .

And people fail to realize that tine length makes or breaks a deer in terms of having a high score. The difference between having 12" and 7" G2's is 10" A buck with 33" of mass may appear much larger than a buck with 28" of mass, but all of that mass will only add 5"

A deer with 60+ tine length is pretty much always going to have an impressive 140+ score, but several mature bucks have 35" of mass and don't break 130.

Radar's deer has about 62" of tine length, 26+ beams, and 18+ spread. Thats 132. Give him 30-33" of mass and that's 162-165. Then add the trash points and he's a 170.

His score doesn't mean as much to me as my pulse rate if I get a shot at him . Just hoping my heart rate doesn't exceed his score , or I may be the one in trouble , Lol !
