Well I just got back from checking my set up, specially constructed to hopefully snap a pic of some of the sorry, good for absolutely nothing, trespasser thieves that have been stealing my cams and whatever they can find on my place. I finally got some pics of one of them at 4:17:50 on June 26th, coming thru with a flashlight. Looks to be zeroeing in on a stand I have out there, that I had just taken down a little over a month ago, for fear of them getting it since they had already found my trail cam close by. He stopped in the last two pics and was shining the light upward in the direction of that stand. I can't post pics yet as I'm on my phone right now, but will be able to later on this weekend hopefully. I'm getting closer to finding out who these sorry pieces of trash are...

I'll have to post the pic Mon, can't do it from my phone just yet. I can't make out who he is as he is walking away at an angle. But it looks like he stopped just behind a tree and was shining the light on the trees, imo most likely looking for the ladder to one of my loc ons that I had taken down right after they stole my cam. Lucky I had an ir cam right there , else he would have no doubt seen the flash and I would have had another cam stolen, like the last one. He knows there are cams and stands back in there now, I just hope he keeps roaming around now bc I have more eyes out there now, and I'd say its just a matter of time before I get the shot I need to do him in .

I would set them folks up put a low jack or cell phone tracking device or they make some that go in a laptop that I would put in camera find these people and prosecute there butts off! Make sure it's a theft over $500 so it's a felony! Talked to police tell them what your going to do. I'm not sure if u can prosecute with just a pic? I hate a thief!!!

Thanks guys. This crap is just beyond enough I tell you the truth. I can't do anything, or set up anything, w/o the high anxiety of wondering if it will even be there when I come back or not. I will for sure prosecute to the fullest extent whoever it is when I finally catch em, they can count on that.

I live in Chattanooga, i will go with you if you want me too. If he is looking for it and didn't find anything, he will more than likely pop back in during the day second guessing if he over looked it. We could bait him. When he climbs up the ladder to disconnect it, we could take the ladder out from under him leaving him in the stand and leave. While he trying to figure out how to get down, we could take his car/truck and have a demolition derby around some trees.

Thanks for the offer to help DR. ;\) If he comes back in daylight, I'll most likely have a much better pic of him. I'm just racking my brain right now trying to figure out which way he came in from. Don't know if he was wandering, or if he came straight from point A to point B. In other words, I see the line he was walking from the pics, but wonder if he circled around while searching, or made a bee line from the starting point, ie his home. Oh btw, I had fortunately taken the stick ladders down when my cam was stolen, being concerned that they would indeed return for my stands, which looks to be the case now.

Great way to spend your time, patrolling your recreation property! [sarcasm]

I passed on a nice piece of hunting ground recently, precisely because of this. I knew if I wasn't on the property the "neighbors" would be.

Oh yea, no doubt. Most likely a tract or two over, but most likely just lives on an acre or less, yet thinks he is king of the mtn and can do as he pleases in the "woods" out there. I've had a couple or three that I've caught over the years that lived on the edge bordering my property. They move into an acre or less lot bordering my place, or even close by, and somehow think they have a right to hunt the entire area surrounding their house. I've tried to be nice enough, just letting folks know that this is the land that I hunt, and my cousins too, and its just not big enough for any more hunters. Then, I had to start posting signs, and it seems to have had no effect, or has gotten worse in reality. Now I can't leave a single thing out there w/o worrying if it will get stolen before I can get back to it.

It may just be business as usual for these thieves, but I take it as a slap in the face, and will treat it as such. Is it too overboard of me to take it as such? I just can't seem to not take it so personally.

Yea, its never-ending as a landowner. Folks have trouble with their leased properties , but I'm beginning to believe that, as a landowner, its much more personal when someone violates your land.

Hey MUP I may have a old broken camera around the house somewhere that you could use as bait and and place a good camera up in a tree close by knowing they will come take that camera and surely while they're taking the bait camera you'll get a good face picture

You can't imagine the half of it Griz. Constantly wondering if my stand is still there for the next morning's hunt, trail cam still there? Pent up frustration unleashed on these low lifes would likely be debilitating for them. I've seen their lights coming in from the opposite direction as I was coming in to hunt in the mornings, and, see lights exiting far off at the end of the hunt after dark. Like a dang nest of ants almost.

Yeah that sucks. We live out here in the country too and dad had someone rip the radiator out of his old truck. I'm out here in birchwood and don't know how close you are to that but we have trouble with people stealing stuff too and drug running and making. The neighbors told us a few months ago that narcotics and police were in the woods looking and waiting for some drug runners. Best of luck to you and hope you nab them. If it was me I would somehow energize it to give them a jolt somehow or put a trap out. Dads got some stuff rigged with some old anti sleep buzzers people used to use when driving that when the connection is lost it has a loud alarm go off.

MUP, have you thought about downloading a navigation app to your phone and removing all markers in the woods? I no longer use bright eyes, tape or reflectors of any kind and use my phone to get me to my hunting spots in the morning. Hope you catch this idiot!!

No markers used, as this is my family land I've owned and hunted for many years. These scum lowlife's apparently wander all over creation back there and just happen upon my stuff, cams, stands, etc, and just take it. I had a loggy bayou loc-on stolen one year that was in the middle of nowhere back there, at least as far as a trespasser would be concerned, and they came in a week after season was closed and took it down, along with the fold up screw in steps for it. Dang, my bp gets up every time I think about these douches.

It sucks somedays to be honest and do what is right and the lowlife that just walks in like they own the place and rob you blind. I have lost two buddy stands that were even cable locked to a tree and lost a couple of trail cams to boot. Good luck on getting them and wish I could be there to see the look on their sorry faces when they are arrested!!!

Get some orange flagging tape and mark a bogus route to a stand not worth much to be stolen. Write your name on the stand somewhere small that most likely wont be seen, make a marking on it only you will know. When he sees the new flagging he will think you've hung a stand. Put your trail cam out like you have now and maybe another one if you have one. Get the pics of him to see who it is then when he gets the stand, report it stolen and police can identify it and give it back to you. Also if you know who the person is , and have this markings on the stand, the police can do a search warrant at his house to retrieve the property legally and probably more of your property. Plus take him to jail. Your probably not the only victim

No, that time/date stamp was off, but I had another cam nearby that was correct, so I made the adjustment and calculated the correct time as being 4 something in the morning. ;\)

You could always set a lot of bear traps in the area!

Mark a trail to a ladder stand with a camera attached to the ladder so you get a great up close picture , move over a few trees and climb a tree in a climber and wait but be armed.... when the show up get all the way to the stand ( so you know a picture was taken ) start shooting..

This year I drilled 3 holes in my climbing sticks and 2 in my hang-on stands and ran 8" deck screw into the tree to hold them in place. I've never had anything stolen, but then again I've never leased property before either and seeing the stories here had me worried. I figured if they are going to steal the stands then they are going to work for them.

I really hate thieves and I hope karma bites them in the [censored].
