I was at a car dealership yesterday, while I was talking to the salesperson. After a lengthy talk somehow we got on politics. He was a retired LEO. He was telling me about a program that was going on that I haven't heard anything about. He said the government was handing out vouchers to low income individuals for $8000 to purchase a car. He said there some guide lines they had to follow. The car couldn't be so old with a certain mileage on it and couldn't be over $8000.
I cant remember the government buying my family a car when I was growing up. And we were pretty poor by todays standards. There has to be a breaking point. Just wondering if anyone has heard of this, I haven't until yesterday.

Well, if one of these $8,000 cars is being driven by a tick that can't afford or won't buy insurance and hits another vehicle, can the guy that pays for insurance sue the government for giving a car to someone that can't pay for the damage? This is more over the top than the Earned Income Credit stuff. I'm thinking an extended trip to Canada might be a good choice. They don't have the tax base to pay for such garbage.

And they wonder why so many kids growing up these days won't work because they see their parents or parent living pretty well off the government. They eat as good or better than most middle class families, never worry about being hungry, cold or hot and always seem to have money to buy extra stuff. Tell me why would you want to work when you can go to bed anytime you want, sleep in, no responsibilities, and your only worry is if the mail is late one time a month?

I've looked around some and can't find any news or info on this program posted anywhere. If true seems like it would be big news

Yeah Ive looked around also and cant find any info on it either. But he pointed out the corner of the lot that held the cars that qualified for the program.

I checked into it too. Looks like non-profit organizations are doing it. You can bet they are funded by uncle sam.
Why buy insurance when you and I have that covered with uninsured motorist coverage.
