300+ yard shots with a 30/30

I had a man tell me once that he shot deer through the front legs with an arrow so they couldn't walk off. He would then shoot them in the vitals. He said he never had to track his deer and he had never lost one.

The guy I wrote about did retire and move off somewhere. Seems like he must moved over your way.

I hear this one almost every year:

I saw this huge 12 point buck that would score 193 3/8 B&C. He had a 24 inch spread with lots of mass. He would field dress a 195 1/2 pounds. I COULD NOT GET A SHOT AT HIM!

Able to score and weigh him but could not get a shot at him???
BTW, this is in modern gun season.

Archery, "where did you hit the deer?" "Perfect, right BEHIND the shoulder!", many times not even near the shoulder.

many times adrenaline and the fast motion of the shot makes it hard to tell where you hit... I thought I'd hit my first archery buck just right, but it was a few inches farther back and he went a lot farther than i expected before dying.

You all are on a cruel streak!

I actually did kill a deer with an arrow once. Once...
