another missed informed person lol wow your not paying for the post office

Sure we are .With every hike in postage rates and every cut in services. John Q Public the American taxpayer is paying for the Service the Post Office provides.A different point of view does not mean we are misinformed. The ability to look at things with a open mind to change is the only thing that will save the postal service. Things keep on like they are we're going to have to bring back the Pony Express. I wonder how much Junk they carried ??

Lets clairify: the Customer of the post office pays the Post offices bills and salaries. The Government with tax payer dollars does not it does not get taken out of your pay check. Post office is not in the Gov budjet.

If you choose not to be a customer revenue drops for the post office. Does not get off set by the government

The PO is not government subsidized. The government backs the PO but also skims off a percentage of the revenues generated by the PO leaving less money for the PO to operate on. There are other reasons the PO is in trouble but one of the biggest factors is that the government won't keep their hands out of the till.

Lets see. There are over 31,000 post offices in the U.S., of which 80% (about 25,000 lose money). The Post Office can't fund their employee retirement accounts so they have to borrow from the Federal Reserve. There is no financial way for the post office to survive on it's own. At what point is the plug pulled?
