I think that is Chump instead of Champ.

And, SOS, IMO, represents two of the biggest mistakes TN has made in football over the years. The first was not getting him to come to TN to play because they still wanted to run the single wing. The second was not trying their best to hire him as a coach at various spots along the way.

I've always admired him for talking trash and backing it up.

I'm betting that right now if you polled the Gator nation and asked them if they wanted to swap chump for butch, that a majority would pull the trigger. The vibe I get from Gatorland is that Muschamp isn't beloved like SOS was.

All bets on that are off after Butch goes 0-October.

You forget I know somebody that sat beside you last year and watched you fidgit for 3.5 quarters. After the great fake punt call, if TN hadn't messed it up, I'm not sure that FL comes back. You and I both know that game was a mite closer than the final score.

I think Gator Nation is fine with Champ.... You know how fans are, they only remember the last game where FL got spanked by UL. Most of them forgot about FL being 11-2 and beat some pretty good SEC teams (SC, LSU, and A&M).

Butch is too much of a Wild card right now. He's has never coached big time football.

I watched FL all season long, wear down teams and then beat them in the 4th QT. Did the same thing with UT.... \:\)

That is my worry about Butch as well. I'm more than pleased with the job he and his staff have done since he came on. But, I'm not ready to see them sculpt a statue to go beside the General's until he has won a few in the SEC. With the schedule he inherits this year, I just hope our flip-flop fans don't want to tar and feather him by Dec. The mess Hamilton's coaches created up there won't be fixed overnight.

Yes, Beach, I got took in by the Dooley. Guilty as charged.

Keep telling yourself that, Lade, and maybe you can make yourself believe it. Butch has won at all of his stops. Whether he can make the jump to the NFL developemental league remains to be seen.

But, I'm betting he at least puts TN on the right track. With SOS heading for the golf course in the not-so-distant future, and TN back to where they are competitive, they will be able to pencil in those gamecock games with a W like they did for decades.

I think I read where he won league championships at both stops (but might be wrong).

But, the Dooley broke me from drinking that orange koolaid. I'll support Butch as long as he is UT's coach, but I'll hold off ordering any tickets to the SECCG until I see him win a few where he outcoaches somebody. I think the last time we saw that happen at UT was when they came within two botched last minute field goals of beating the eventual NC.

Here's the stat that would worry me..... Butch took over a 12-1 Kelly team and went 4-8 the following season. I know some players probably jumped ship when Kelly left for ND. I'm wondering how low he can take a 5-7 Dooley team.... \:D

More importantly IMO is how the coaches team was trending at each stop. Was the trend upward or downward/static. A first year or two at a given school means squat.
Thats just my .02 worth.

I will give a good honest answer.... I know we joke around on here and talk smack about other teams. Some can take it and some can't.

As far as Butch being hired, I think he has brought life back into the Program and reminds me a little of Bruce Pearl. That's a good thing because if the fans like the guy, then he will have more time to turn things around... Dooley was a good example of what not to do...... Dooley wasn't well liked and didn't win ball games.

Butch so far has put a good recruiting class together but he will have to hit the magic # of 6 wins to keep the class in tack. The key for Butch will be year # 2 when he has to win ball games. That means he will have to knock off one of the big teams in the SEC. If fans are expecting Butch to turn things around this year, then they are setting the bar to high for Butch in his first year. He has to replace, Hunter, Patterson, Bray, and fix a very bad "D".

I think Butch was a good hire considering that the top coaches weren't knocking down the door to coach at UT. The last two times that TN had to hire a coach.... They had to go way down the list. Butch almost took the CU job before coming to UT.....

At this point, all we can really say "Time will tell".

Now back to having fun... \:D

I'll go further than that. Butch will have to knock off ONE big SEC opponent in year #1 to keep the '14 class intact and keep the fans excited. And that will not be easy.

Before TN will be able to knock of a good team in the SEC. Butch will need one of his unproven QBs to step up and be a play maker. Also TN has lost all their starting WRs. It will be interesting to see what kind of team, Butch will be able to field this season.

Agreed. I like Spurrier a lot. Love to beat him, but he seems to be a good guy. Tons of respect for him.

Heard that before when we lost to LSU in regular season..results National Title

And heard it again last year when we lost to A&M...results National Title

So with that said I feel like this. When your on top everybody is gunning for you and the ODDS are always against you. We lost some very good offensive talent last year, but we also got some depth and returning expierenced players. Not to mention BSK's favorite coach. ;\)
