Short and sweet. Is it just me, or does he sound a bit put off by the outcome?

Dear Mr. MUP,

Thank you for contacting my office to share your concerns about the Leahy Amendment to the immigration bill. Your input is important to me, and I appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts.

Immigration law currently provides a legal avenue for foreign individuals to apply to join their family members in the United States. The Leahy Amendment would give same-sex partners the same avenue as married couples to enter the country and receive permanent legal status. You will be pleased to know that this amendment was withdrawn in committee and did not receive a vote during the Senate immigration debate.

Thank you again for your letter. I hope you will continue to share your thoughts with me.
