I am lookin at a new scope for a smokeless conversion.
Nikon buckmaster 4.5-14-40 bdc or Minox ZA5 2-10-40.
Only $10 price diff.
Lets hear your opinions.

Having a 3-9x40 in both a Nikon Buckmasters and a Minox ZA3 I'll rate them pretty equally with maybe a slight advantage going to the Minox for lens quality. Any particular reason you're going for that much magnification?

Looking a little closer at the Buckmaster you mentioned, with it having the BDC reticle and side focus it'll probably suit your needs better on long shots. You should be able to plug you fps and bc into the Nikon Spot On program and it tell you your distances for the marks on the reticle.

I plugged the info in from my 45-70 conversion and zeroed at 100 the first circle is 150 yrds, second is 225 yrds, third is 300 yrds and last is 400 yrds. Granted you'd need to actually shoot it a few time at those distances to verify but they should be pretty close.

I would get the Minox. Nothing wrong with the Buckmaster, but the Minox has better glass

X2

Plus I don't care for a side focus on a hunting scope. 10 power is plenty for me.

Minox. I have the ZA 5 and I think it is much better than the Nikon Monarchs I have.

Be a no-brainer to me ---- Take the Minox over the buckmaster.

I heard that they are comparable to Monarchs but better glass also from a post on another site.
