Game Camera Problems

Does the sensor on the cameras pick up motion or body heat? The reason I ask is that trip before last I had over 500 pictures in about a 2 week run and this trip , also about 2 weeks, I only had 28 pictures. So I thought that maybe the extreme heat is keeping the sensor from picking up the body heat of the deer. What do ya'll think?

Something always with the over the counter game cams seem to me ie. white out, empty pics, few pics, dead batteries.

Most pick up sudden changes in heat, not actual motion. With the daytime temps up near 100, don't expect many daytime picks as the deer's body may be cooler than the surrounding air.
