So I'm driving down the road in Franklin, TN(Columbia highway, between carters creek pike and keystone subdivision) today with my wife on my way back from looking at a project and we look over and see two elk standing (inside a standard horse/cattle fence)in a field. It was around 730 pm. This bull was big! I counted 5x4. There was a female/cow elk with him. They weren't shy of people but they wouldn't let you get within 50-60 feet of them. Has anyone else seen them? While I was there, someone who travels that route daily stopped and said he had never seen them before. He's a hunter too. I have never seen them either.

There used to be a couple just off of the Natchez Trace southwest of Leiper's Fork, but to me they appeared to be domesticated/farmed/whatever. Always saw them in the same field. Maybe the same ones that were sold/moved?

Can't remember exactly where but there used to be a guy in Brentwood that kept exotics (elk, zebra, even had a moose at one time that escaped and made the news).

Just thought I would mention that someone posted these elk on facebook. They said they were in an inclosure but didnt elaborate as to whether it was a high fence or not.
