I was given a couple hundred free lake city 30-06 cases. Anyone have any home remedies for removing the crimp on a budget?

Probably the cheapest method is reaming. I have a couple of these but I prefer to use my swager. I have also heard of people reaming them out with a small drill bit.

You can use your chamfer/deburr tool in a pinch. Most have a small enough point and will go small enough, just think as the primer pocket as a small case mouth.

X2, it can get old but I pile mine up and do them while I'm piled up on a rainy day

You need to be careful and not enlarge the flash hole or primer pocket. If you do, you will have primers falling out. Bad JUJU when they fall into the action. RCBS makes a pocket swage for a single stage press for around $20 - $30 it will take care of small and large pockets. Not the fastest tool, but does make a uniform pocket after removing the crimp.

I have moved on to the Dillon swage, as I was spending way too much time removing the crimp from bulk 5.56 Brass.

I bought a bit that goes into my drill. Looks like a small chaffer tool. You just have to touch the crimp for a second or two. You can do probably 8-10 per minute.

I usually remove the crimp, clean the primer pocket and prime 1K at a time on a rainy day.

I think the little tool was called a crimp buster
