Been seeing a lot of doves on power lines and loafing around lately. Can't wait to start shooting at them. Pretty soon I will be shooting some skeet, so I am not a complete waster of shells this fall. I'd like to hit a dove more than 1 in 10 times. lol

I'm a little worried. My dove field looks a bit immature to be ready for opening day.

I planted sun flowers for doves and thought they would be ready by mid to late august but, their going to be ready way to early. I doubt they will still be standing by then.

I use feed grade wheat (which means I can use 1.5 X more seeding rate and still be legal) in my sweet corn fields and we usually have a good hunt but, I wanted to use sunflowers as well.

I am ready, 5 fields totaling 26.5 acres, all fields are about 85%clean of weeds/grasses, we will cure the weed/grass problem with one more spraying of 2 chemicals, fields are drawing plenty of birds as I type, will be buying 100 boxes of Winchester AA's as soon as Bass Pro has the sale around the first of August

Ready, field is loaded and has been and we haven't did a thing. Fortunate to have a spot the birds just like. Hoping for another year like last year, I killed 3 limits in 3 days, 29 shells, 38 shells and 25 shells. Made my reloading a little overkill since I have a pile of 1 oz. 20 ga number 9's and 8-1/2 shot loaded.

Ready! Getting nervous about our field. It's a little green. Usually we are worried about them cleaning out the field before the season opens, this year we are afraid it wont have them coming in in time.

Looks like I'll be pumping this year, the 1100 is down for the count. The little weld (or silver solder) that is on the barrel at the gas port is broken... second time this has happened. About every third or fourth shot won't cycle, too much gas escaping.

where I dove hunt, they don't cut the corn until after the first dove season anyway. I hunt over standing corn. Last year the field had some bare spots in the middle, which the doves loved. this year there was no dry weather and the corn is thick and tall, so that may be a little different. I still expect to see a few doves, and some pigeons from the nearby barn. Can't wait

Checked yesterday afternoon. Corn everywhere, which can be bad if they all get cut at the same time.

Looked like one farmer had done a test cutting once around one of the fields. Lots of doves around a feed lot, which got me pumped.

Hope everyone has a barrel-melter or two!

Cant Wait!Ordered a new battery powered decoy to go with the Mojo. Have to cut some strips in the millet this weekend. Does anyone think a fake powerline is something needed? I have plenty of trees around the field.

Sunflower is cut and the wheat is next on the list! I had about 100 doves yesterday evening, looking forward to the group within the next 2 weeks.

I actually got to shoot my gun this year!!! Ten shots! Hit 7 - recovered 6. Best Opener I've had in years and years. Pitiful, huh? No corn equals no doves. Got some corn that's due to be combined in the next couple weeks though so there is still hope.
