Here are a couple of photos of a yearling buck on Wednesday, June 26 at about 5pm. He was bedded down by our house in the heat of the day for several hours. Both antlers are injured, and have turned black and are just dangling in front of his face. I'm not sure if his skull is cracked but his crazy actions would lead me to believe that it is. Or perhaps, his vision is just impaired which is causing him to act like a lunatic, letting you get within about 20' from him until running and jumping off like a bucking bronco. The game warden has given me permission to put him down if I see him again. Hopefully, he'll drop the antlers and return to a normal life (until he gets picked on/beat up this fall by his friends for not having a set on his head).

Very sad to see. I would suggest putting him down. By your description of his behacior, if you don't, the coyotes likely will.

Don't look a gift horse, or rather deer, in the mouth. Take him and put him in the freezer. ;\)
