DNA is a very fast bow however if you don't shoot a lot you may want to try something with longer brace height which in return gives you more forgiveness. I have shot the creed, the Hoyt Spydwr turbo, the Spyder 34(I think that's the name of it), the pse evo, the bow tech experience, the elite pure, and the answer. However, the bow I brought home was the prime defy. With all the bows out today you would do yourself a dis service to not give them all a chance. I love my prime and the elites came in at a close second followed by bow tech and Hoyt. Give them all a chance but I would at least try elite and prime.

everyone likes something different and for different reasons. Shoot what you can and see what fits the best. I personally have shot Mathews, PSE, Hoyt, Bear and Elite...so far the Elite was my personal favoriate for sure.

Even though I shoot a Mathews, I'm a fan of only one kind of bow.....the one that feels and shoots the best to me! Bows are the exact same as tennis shoes--one of the exact same model will feel and react differently to every person that uses it. Go with an open mind and shoot every single one within your price range and let the bow pick you, not the other way around. If you're having trouble picking up subtle differences between bows then stand immediately in front of a target and close your eyes when you draw back, only to open them again long enough to make sure you're on target and then close your eyes again and release the string--our eyes have a funny way of distorting things and covering up small details that ofherwise get "overlooked".

also dont forget to shoot some of the small named bows like Elite, Obsession and Athens. The warranty on those are even better then Hoyt or Mathews and all 3 make fantastic bows. Not sure where you are located but there is an Elite dealer here in Hermitage and i know there are some obsession dealers near by.

I have shot several different brands from the bear that I started with 25 years ago to PSE, Darton, Matthews, Bowtech, and my new High Country X10. All bought because they felt right. Try them out and pick the one that feels right. The technology in bows today is great because it means that there is something out there for everybody. Personally I don't think there is a compound bow out there today that is worth a grand naked, so don't pass up the right one just because it isn't pricey. Makes no sense to pay all that money for some of them just to make up the makers advertising and endorsement cost. Pay for the product not the hype.

I know what you mean I live near Knoxville I wish I could find. A dealer that sales winchester bows I really really hate the price range of some of the bows I have looked at but I won't to buy one that I won't be disappointed about cause the bow I have now I bought now is a bow tech guardian and I didn't buy it new I didn't know much about them so after I bought the guy had some how dropped it out of his stand and he took it to get it fixed then I bought it it shots fine but it not what I like after I shot the PSE DNA and just about everywhere I go to look at bow they don't have much cause I shoot left handed

Just be sure before you rule out a bow , shoot the same bow at different shops if you can = have the dealer make sure the bow is in time and everything is set up right, It will make a big difference in the way a bow feels= they vary from one shop to the next, you never know who has dry fired one or what screw is loose.

If you like the PSE DNA , then buy it ! I love my PSE bows . I also have a older model Hoyt Katera XL that is a fine bow too .
The best bow for you , is the bow you shoot best with . Shoot them all and decide from there .

I don't think there's a bow company out there today that doesn't produce a good shooting, high quality bow. Everything on the market today is better than what we had 10 yrs ago. Just the advancements that have been made in string material is amazing.

If you are on a tight budget, there are bows just for that now days...that are quite surprising if you give them a chance. All the shops you go to are going to try and point you towards the flagship models, but I've actually shot some of the non flagship models that I liked 10x as much as the flagship for the year.

A good example of this was last yr when I shot the Diamond Outlaw. That bow wasn't even on my radar AT ALL...didn't even want to shoot it to be honest. I went to shoot BowTech bows. After shooting all the BowTech models and not liking any of them to suit my fancy, they handed me the Diamond and offered it to me to shoot. I figured I would give it a try...and that bow almost came home with me that day. In my personal preferences on a bow, it blew the BowTechs out of the water...and Diamond is suppose to be BowTech's secondary company...the company that gets the BowTech 2nd's....the low end stuff.

Another example...this year with the PSE's. The flagship is the DNA...last yr it was the Evo. This yr I shot all the lineup when the PSE rep came by the shop when I happened to be there. Of all the 2013 bows they brought out...the one that I liked the best, ended up being their cheap one for the year....the Drive. I liked it best of all of them, including the DNA and Evo. So you never know...just gotta shoot them all with an open mind and you might be surprised. I'm shooting a Strother Hope this year man...a bow targeted with women in mind. 34" A-A, 6.5" brace height, 3.75 lbs mass weight. 342 fps IBO. Smooth drawing. Quiet shooting. Thumbs up.

Like everyone is saying shoot alot of different bows and let it pick you. I also was in the market for a new bow this year. I shot the elites, Hoyt spider, PSE's, Bear, and The new Mathews Creed. I came home with the Creed. It just felt the best to me. As said earlier every bow company makes great bows now days. As far as the Creed I have been shooting bows for 25 + years and I have never shot this good. The bow is very accurate and dead in the hands. Smooth draw and solid back wall. Main thing is to just have fun picking one.. Good luck!

I'd be curious if anyone shoots Parker's flagship, dealer only bow. I had a Blackhawk and it was very nice.

I get to see the difference in technologies every time the boys come over. We have bows from 1987, the mid '90's, and the newest is a 2004 model. It's my son's and is still a 9 year old bow but it amazes me that his bow at 58lb 75% let off is faster than my bow at 72lb draw.

I feel your pain man! If all the dealer has is right handed bows to demo try and have them drop an inch on draw length and shoot it left handed. That is what I have to do every year. I've shot almost every new bow that way.

It's a little awkward but it is about the only way to test bows if you are left handed. Unfortunately for us very few dealers have left handed bows in stock
