I have a huge poplar tree that is gonn have to come down sometime nd was wandering if anyone knows what the logs would be worth if anything?

The price to buy lumber on average at a sawmill runs about 75cents BF,poplar logs don't bring as much as white or red oaks,it all depends on how big the logs are and if they straight and have any knots.If you cut it yourself you can make yourself a few dollars but if you have to hire somebody to cut it and haul it for you your goin in the hole.

I know a local place here buys the bark off them takes some practice getting a 4x8 sheet off a tree

If its in your yard.. most mills wont take it... tooo many nails...

When you get it down look at the very base of the tree after you cut it from the stump. If it has any blue in the wood it has metal in it and you will have to start cutting sections off about 2 foot at a time until it clears up. It sometimes take 5 minutes or more to show any blue. Last count I had good #1 logs brought 50 cents a board ft.
