From one striving to get there. Trying to get squared away for the coming school and become hire-able.

Being ever efficient and diligent I hand carried my paperwork and degree certification to TNDOE this morning. Lady said everything looked great...and "oh...wait...I don't see where you have taken the PLT. Have you taken that?"

Really?...ugh....

Have any of you taken this test? How difficult is it?

From the ETS and TNDOE website..."Applicants for initial educator licenses are required to pass the PLT portion of The Praxis Series tests and the designated specialty area exam(s) required for the endorsement area(s) requested."

Sounds like you have it covered from what I read. Do they have your scores?

They do, but according to the state I still have to take the PLT. Can I be hired without it? Trying to scramble around and scrounge up another $140.00 I just don't have.

My wife's a teacher and said if you passed both Praxis tests you should not have a problem with the PLT. She said it's just a general knowledge test. However, make sure you study because people have failed it.

As for being hired, if you have your teaching license some districts will hire you pending you passing the PLT.

PLT is principles of learning and teaching... it is another test that you ddf have to have no matter the subject.. it is with the praxis series... I can't remember if it is half essay half multiple guess or all essay.... it will be much easier to be hired with it...but you could possibly get lucky without... I know you don't want to hear this but I wouldn't hold my breath
