Looks like he's got ear mites or something. Maybe beginning stages of the mange. He doesn't look like he's having fun to me, he looks miserable and trying to get some relief.

I live in the suburbs, and I too have seen healthy fox families out and playing in daylight, romping around backyards. Not uncommon at all for foxes that have no fear of Man.

Suburban wildlife, with no fear of Man, will do crazy things. Last November, this mature buck in my neighbor's driveway let my daughter and me get within 15 yards of him as he tended an estrus doe. He tended and chased that doe around our backyard for almost 2 hours:

As the owner of a one-year-old GSP, the answer is obvious. I could tolerate that until it started chewing on the spring cover. Then, the pellet gun comes out.

That is what I was thinking, It appeared to be itching real bad. I wouldn't have shot it but I don't think it was having fun. The trampoline material must have felt good to the itching.

He's just playing, no point in shooting him.

i haven't seen a rabid fox in over 40 years
and they sure don't act like that
more like the zombies everybody's talking about until they sense movement
