Well I have a spot on one of our farms that is just impossible to hunt out of a tree stand, there are no tree that I can get one in. You can hunt it off the ground but you can't see everything that you need to see. So I decided on buying a tripod. And I've never bought one or even hunted out of one. So I'm kind of lost. There are lot of models of them ranging any where from 180-400 dollars. Personally I don't want to spend that much but we need something in this spot. I just need a little help on deciding what one to buy. And if anyone has hunted out of one. Did you like them? What's the pros and coins out of them? Just any information would be great. Especially if you recommend a certain brand or madel of them.

If you are going to use 1 get it in there asap so the deer get use to it,also the skirt & top make it nice in bad weather & to hide any movement .like any thing else the higher the better but that always = more $ lol

They are heavy if you get one with much size to it. You can't stand and hunt if your butt gets sore.If your not carefull where you put it you stand out like a sore thumb. I have 2 small 10 footers that I use for cutovers or WMA's. If your looking at a big one have you considered a portable box stands ?? All kinds of ready made portable ones out there these days. Or brackets and plans for do it your selfers. I prefer to be able to stand in my stand at least occasionally.

Can you put up a ladder stand?

If not, I would put up a box stand.

Can't the trees I can get in are to small and its a big field where we see a lot of chasing and the trees that are big enough either isn't on our property or in a bad location for what I want to see.

Where I plan on putting it is in between two fence rows seperating corn field this year. The two fence rows are about 15 yards apart and is crazy thick through there. So I feel like a can hide myself pretty well in it. But do some of y'all bow hunt out of tripods? That's the part that worry me the most is if I can shoot a bow out of it. This spot is usually rocking in bow. But I need to get off the ground to really give myself the best chance.

We have a 16 ft. that we use to watch large cattle fields. Don't put out in the open, you'll stick out like a sore thumb but if you have no choice do it now & attach camo around the shooting rail & prey that the deer get used to it by the opener. We put ours up in small islands out in the fields or on the edges where we have a backdrop to help break the stand up. We set up for primary ML / rifle but can also stand for a safe archery shot.

Forgot to mention that two of us can take apart & relocate in one trip on a 4 wheeler with a handful of tools along with some bungies & some rope, three legs & the intact cradle will fit on a Honda Foreman.
