Had a blast.

My secret to fishing with the wife and kids......

1) find a nice cove or creek I would like to fish
2) tell them it is time to go swimming
3) when they are out of the boat drop the trolling motor and fish the cove
4) pick them up when I am ready to move to another spot
5) repeat

After a couple of times they learn I am not going to leave them, and if they don't want to swim, they don't o with me.

Good luck.

I hate to hear about that. I take my family with me fishing all of the time. When they come with me, it's not about me getting a chance to fish, it's about my kids getting to fish. I don't care if I even catch a fish, just as long as my kids have a good time. We have a blast every time we go out.

It used to be a real pain in the a$$ any time I would take mine fishing with me. But I was patient and taught them how to do everything theirselves and it paid off. I would rather take all of them with me and not catch many fish then go by myself and catch a bunch.

Only take girlfriends, not the wife.

Seriously, if I take family (or friends) especially if they have not fished much or at all, I plan on NOT fishing personally. Once they get a feeling for it and can fish on their everyone should have a better time

This was bank fishing, but I took my almost 4 year old son fishing the other day. I wasn't expecting much. More than anything I knew I would cast his little rod for him and I had hoped a blue gilll might swallow the worm hook and all and allow him to reel one in completely on his own. And, I figured I'd bring my rod along to, snag a few, and let him reel them in too. I realized real quick that I'm too competitive when it comes to fishing (even when I'm fishing for someone else) to bring along my own fishing rod until he gets the hang of things better. We went the next day and I left my rod at home - we both enjoyed it more.

Which brings me to another point. Any you guys in Blount County have a pond a little 4 year old could fish in? The duck pond and the green belt just ain't cutting it.

I try not to be. After reading some of the opinions on taking the wife, I may need to rethink my desire to go. \:\(
