Anybody ever stay or hunt here? Found their ad online when looking at different things to hunt in the area.

Yeah they're right up the road, seems like it would beat paying the same if not more to go out west. I may give them a call just to get some more information if and when I want to get serious.

They say you can stay in the cabins for $100 a night which includes meals. Then you can hike on over 500 acres. Might be a good way to scope out the area. I also like the guaranteed game. If you go out and are unsuccessful, you keep coming back until you are. I know quite a few folks who have shelled out thousands for Montana, Idaho, and Utah and come back empty handed.

I guess to me that there is enough difference in killing a "fair chase" elk and one behind a high fence that it isn't even in the same ballpark. I'd rather get skunked out west than do the released/high fence deal.

Different strokes for different folks.

I'm not there yet. If I kill an elk, I kill an elk. If I can do that while supporting the local economy, more power to it. I figure 500 acres is enough of a challenge. I suppose it's not much different than glassing from a truck, walking out and lobbing a 900 yard shot on a bull (seen it done). Different strokes.
