My wife and I will be in Pickwick this weekend, and I am thinking of taking her out to eat for our anniversary. What is the best restaurant within an hour drive for a nice dinner? A good BBQ restaurant would be a bonus.

Broken spoke right across the bridge is pretty good. Freddy T's toward the MS line is good too. The bar there really gets going if you hang around. You probably wouldn't want to stay around too late.

I haven't hung around that area since the early 90's. back in the day, the "Catfish Botel" served up some fine, commercially fished, TN River catfish, but I'm sure it's all farm raised now. The county also used to be dry, though you could BYOB (and, if you were a enterprising young man, tip your BYOB bartenders into serving underage folks, especially if you had underage girls with you, but that's another story...)

That's all I got. -haven't been there in years. It is Catfish country, for sure.

My mom likes to say that Freddy T's is the best "not bad" place around there. Someone could make a fortune operating a good restaurant. For all the money that rings the water, you'd think there would be more options for eating out.
