We had a snake in the shop today and we finally got it outside and I snapped a pic... do snakes other then rattlers shake their tail?... I freak out over snakes like ruger with spiders so didn't get real close to this one... I said we finally got it out but I was in truck bed lol.. I will try to attach pic but from a distance it looked to have triangular head and it was shaking tail before striking at whatever... I didn't see buttons or rattles... how early would one get these? Prob was not rattler but just wondering

Yea, actually quite a few snakes do that trying to mimic a rattler as a defense

From the pic, it looks non-poisonous. The head is not triangular enough, and the tail is too sharp. To me, it looks like a rat snake. Glad you lived through it and didn't hurt yourself jumping in the truck. ;\)

In the pic, the pupils of the eyes appear to be round. Not a rattlesnake.

yeah a lot of non-poisonous snake mimic poisonous snakes i seen it time after time

But i would put this out there i'm like most people i get up someplace where i know they can't get me and snap a few pictures then run like heck.

but black snakes now are a different story. if i know for sure it's a pure black snake i will catch it and show it to dad.then watch him go ape ..... when he see's it \:D

Same here but after the first snake this year I'm learning to check and see what they are and then if they are poisonous then they bite the dust with the help of a 12 gauge
