This was a very neat and unprecedented trail cam experience for me in 2006.
I killed three 4 1/2-yr-old and older bucks, and was able to get live pics of all three before tagging them.

You may find this ironic and hard to believe, but getting these trail cam pics actually handicapped me in hunting these older bucks, and almost cost me any opportunity at killing the oldest one. I kept hunting the areas where I was getting the most pics of the largest & oldest buck, particularly the daytime pics. Only after I had essentially given up on the big old one (3rd one), did I "accidentally" kill him over 1/2 mile from the nearest place I had gotten a pic. I had gone out that afternoon specifically to kill a doe, to a spot that was easy to drive right up to the stand --- a spot from which my trail cams had produced zero older buck pics year-to-date.

The first buck, I killed before even knowing I had his pic on a trail cam. The 2nd buck, I only had so many pics of him because I had already patterned him over the past few years. The 3rd buck was driving me crazy, and I found myself mainly hunting near the areas where I was getting daytime pics -- which is why he almost eluded me for yet another season.

Very common experience Wes. It's amazing how often we kill a photographed buck far from where that buck has been most frequently photographed. Sometimes we kill them more than 3/4 of mile from where we get the most pictures of them.
