Bought a plastic welder yesterday. Laramy plastic welder stick welding unit self contained. This is a stand alone, hot air, plastic stick welder, the system has torch heater control, air compressor, pressure gauge, and all intra system connections in a single box.

Going to use it to repair cracked ATV fenders. Anyone ever use one of these unit? Pointers please.

Very anxious to give it a go. I will post up some pics of my project.

I've been riding 2 wheelers since the late 70's. I have seen and/or tried most everything out there. You have to have filler material that is exactly the same type that is being repaired. A long time ago, you would burn a piece and the color of the smoke would give an idea as to the type of plastic filler rod to buy. The best thing to do is get broken fenders, etc from friends and cut it into thin strips to use as filler material for plastic welding. That way, it will be the same material. For me, it never was as durable as it was before being broken so I only repaired things like a gas tank or blocked off holes in the air box for crossing deep creeks. I have repaired automotive fan shrouds too.

Thanks for the feed back. Like the idea of cutting up strips of scrap fenders. Here is a pic of the unit. Haven't had the chance to operate it yet but, will post pics when I do. It came with 3 tips a new heating element and around 15lbs of various plastic welding rods.
