Save your money on the corn and put out some minerals. Not only is a trophy rock or mineral lick a lot cheaper, the deer would much rather have the minerals anyways.

Just my opinion.

The cam is on a salt lick thats been there for about 8yrs. I just put the corn around it. There wearing the lick out. Its around 10ft in diameter and 2ft deep.

Gotcha. In my experience, once a lick is established you really don't need any corn.

Several years ago the deer convinced me...

I had a corn feeder about 25 yards from an established mineral lick and I had cameras on both. I would get plenty of does and more coons than I could count on that corn feeder, but almost all of the buck pictures I got were over the lick. They would come to the lick almost every day, but would not even get near that feeder. When corn got to $7.00 a bag, I quit buying it all together and it hasn't impacted my ability to inventory my deer one bit.

I have my cameras over licks in the summer, food plots in early fall and scrapes once things heat up. Works great for me.

I usually dont put much corn out (because its $9 a bag now). I usually check my cams every 2 weeks and most always have 400-1000 pics and thats with or without corn. So i agree with you that the corn dont have much impact on them. But i guess its mind over matter with me about hoping to have more impact on a big buck compared to does. When you can get a lick established and the deer like the area they will tear it up. Just like they have with this one. We have 4 on our property and mine and my dads are the ones they like the most for some reason. I have one down in some thick woods that i just knew was going to be a hot spot. The only time they will touch it is when i put corn out lol. Dont know why but thats how it is. And the bad thing about corn is about 1/2 gets eaten by coons and squirrels.

My friend works for a crop production company and got 1500# last year that they had to dump out of a combine and it was just going to ruin. So i bought it way cheaper than $9 a bag. If i put 100 more lbs out this year id be suprised. I hate paying that high price.

And i know your not being a know it all. You got it going for you from your pics. Keep up the good work!

I get much more pictures and more day time pictures over corn. When I put a cam over a mineral lick usually put it at every 30 sec to a min, but on corn I put it on 5 minutes to save my battery, because I get so many more pics...
