You don't put anything in the bottles. I think what keeps them in is they don't know where to go, as they are looking for light to determine the way out.

I used a glass jar for my trap part and don't think they can crawl up it, although I did have one escape.

To secure the jar, you drill a hole in the jar lid that matches the bottom hole on the trap box and I used a staple gun to attach it.

The commercial ones I saw used a mason jar and the outer ring/lid part which already has a hole in it and they were attached to the box with small nails.

I had one up for a month, nothing, I thought I read somewhere that you need to get them out there April/May. Are you still catching them now??

I just got the modified prototype up this weekend and started catching them. I made another for a neighbor, but the entry holes are too small. I will fix his later this week.

I built 6 yesturday. I still dont have the plastic bottles on 5 of them. But i have one hanging up

I emptied out this one yesterday.. app.. 30 bees.. these 4x4 block traps seem to work the best around here.. and their easy to make!
