After 17 years of fighting the same battles, re-visiting the same old issues, stomping out the same old fires.....I am completely burned out.

I sat in a meeting a few minutes ago, listened to the same old corporate rhetoric, "We challenge each of you to find cost savings and exciting new ways to improve profits,...... but don't change anything or spend any money."

So how about that magic wand, anybody got one?

Either go buy a magic wand in the toy section at walmart, or do what a guy did in our office. Go to staples and buy one of those "easy" buttons they use to have in their commercials. Anytime someone would ask him to do something he didn't like, he'd press the button.

So the next time you have a meeting and the topic comes up, throw the magic wand on the table and tell them to wave it or place the easy button on the table and start pressing.

Some how, some way, find a way to become self-employed.
That will present new issues to deal with, and with some, the grass will not become greener on the other side of that fence. But for self-motivated and responsible people like you, you can likely find greater happiness and success career wise by being totally in charge.

Like you I have heard that same tired line all my working life and the brown nosier who is spouting it has no clue what he is saying and is dumb enough to think you have never heard it before. I would bet if you did come up with a great idea before the day was out it would be all his idea and would get the credit for it.

I agree with Wes. Find a way to become self employed. You would be surprised at how it makes you feel about yourself and the world. All those corporate boardroom chats mean nothing when you are self employed. You will quickly forget that whole corporate mentality and concentrate on providing the best customer support/service in the world...and get paid for it.

Hitachi makes a magic wand that works very well. Not so much for your exact situation, but it will help you forget about your problems for a while.
The ladies on here should be able to confirm this.

We seem to have plenty of money ,Our biggest drawback is quality,If we have one claim on a part it cost at least 5 grand,If we have a recall it can put us out of business depending on the vendor.
Everytime the lights blink from a storm we have to throw away 5 k in parts that are in the STI;s to prevent a adhesion failure.
It is mind boggling..I look for someone to go postal anytime.
That is why cars cost so much I guess.

If you find that magic wand, keep it away from me. There would be a lot of people turned I to the animals they act like!

Repeat the same steps and expect different results.

Yup, that's corporate life.

They'll from a committee, have some time sucking meetings, reach an obvious solution and then ignore the recommendations.

Next year, you'll be right back in the same meeting 'What can we do????"

One I remember best was a meeting where the big boss made everyone set goals and submit two things that would be done to solve a particular problem. He close the meeting with how important this was and set another management meeting for six months time to report on results. Six months later we had that meeting and the topic never came up, shows how important it really was but we still had the two day meeting.
