"WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. intelligence agencies are scrambling to salvage their surveillance of al-Qaida and other terrorists who are working frantically to change how they communicate after a National Security Agency contractor leaked details of two NSA spying programs. It's an electronic game of cat-and-mouse that could have deadly consequences if a plot is missed or a terrorist operative manages to drop out of sight.

Two U.S. intelligence officials say members of virtually every terrorist group, including core al-Qaida, are attempting to change how they communicate, based on what they are reading in the media, to hide from U.S. surveillance — the first time intelligence officials have described which groups are reacting to the leaks. The officials spoke anonymously because they were not authorized to speak about the intelligence matters publicly...."

Isn't that kind of hypocritical to leak sensitive information while claiming security leaks are causing problems?

Yes.
They better be careful not to piss off the wrong people or they'll be labeled "traitor" as well.

It's all about WHO you tell, not what you say, when it comes to the media & gov't.

You are correct. That thought was not lost on me either. However, where the government, and most especially the intelligence community are involved, there are leaks, and then there are "leaks."

Maybe Obama can just ask about thier locations while he meets with one of thier leaders today. There are leaks and then there is treason.

The Obama Administration held talks with Sheik Abdullah Bin Bayyah, the vice president of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, in the White House. The Investigative Project reported:

This is just "a leak" to have an excuse in place in case we are hit by another terrorist attack in the future, IMO.

I just dont know what to think of the article honestly. Any terrorist or terrorist organization that stays alive very long is going to change how they communicate very often anyway, thats just good sense. So are they really changing how they communicate because of the leaks or are they just doing that because they would be normally doing that anyway? I hope that makes sense.

I read long ago that the terrorists and insurgents had switched away from electronic communication since the US was so good at intercepting and decoding those messages.

I don't think it was news at all to the terrorists and spies against America that the NSA/cia was monitoring communications, only the oblivious US citizen didn't suspect that WE ALL are being watched.

Evidently, the Boston Bombers outsmarted our intelligence community.

Either that or the "Terrorists" the NSA is looking for are not Muslim Extremists. ;\)

If the terrorists are practicing good OPSEC, the methods used by any of the 3-letter agencies really don't matter.
