if you had 200 to spend on a scope what would it be? it will be going on a new 243 for a 12 yr old boy. thanks

You can buy a good used Leupold, Burris Fullfield 2, Vortex Viper, Nikon Buckmaster or Prostaff for that money.

There is nothing wrong with buying used optics if they are a quality make/model scope.

I agree. I have purchased used Burris, Leupold, and Nikon scopes and have been very happy with their performance.

Leupold VX-1 3-9X40. Read Chuck Hawk's review on it and then look through one. Great scope for the money and you can find a new one on Ebay for $225.

leupolds are great but not because chuck hawk says so, I wouldn't wipe my butt with his reviews, but thanks fo input I am looking at vx1

My son has a youth 243 he is 7 and I put a redfield 3x9x40 on it. Its also has 4 inch eye relief
