Looking for some info on what factory ammo to try picked up a ruger american and was thinking 100 grain. But looking for advice for a good deer bullet. I was thinking Remington, federal fusion, and maybe federal nosler partition. Any advice?

95-grain Fusions hands down for me. My son and I both shoot them. Brother in law shoots them in his .270 as well. If they don't fall on the spot or in eye site they leave one heckuva blood trail.

The 100gr nosler partition is by far the best if you ask me. Been handloading it for years in a 243.

if forced to use factory ammo I would start with Hornady Superformance 100 gr and if that didnt work I would try the Federal Supreme load with 100 gr Sierra

X2. Fusions flat out lay the smackdown on deer. Best bullet I've used in the 243 for deer and crazy accurate.

A lot of folks don't like ballistic tips but for my .243 it the Winchester Ballistic Silvertip 95gr. Unbelievable internal damage, most are bang/flop dead and my rifle shoots 1 ragged hole at the range.

For factory loads, I like the Fusion and the Winchester PowerMax Bonded.

My son and dad shoot the 243, my dad shoots the fusion and they drop on the spot, my son shoots the Remington Premier 90 grain Scirocco, it's a tough bullet that has complete pass throughs, good blood trails, but all deer he's killed, have run 40-75 yds. No "drop dead in their tracks" kills.

This is what I load in my sons.... three bucks the last years and none of them ran more than 20 yards.

That's the factory ammo I've been having my daughter shoot in her .243. As far as factory ammo, its very accurate imo. She hasn't taken a shot at a deer yet, so I can't vouch for terminal performance, yet. It's super easy to find, and is relatively cheap to hunt or practice with.

Core-Lokts are bad medicine on deer. I have shot several deer with them and everyone has dropped in its tracks. You may get better accuracy with some other bullets but you won't make any cleaner kills. They don't call them, "the deadliest mushroom in the woods" for nothing.

Are the fusions moly coated? I looked at some last year, but all I could find where moly coated.

I have some of the Winchester Ballistic Silvertip 95gr and am planing on picking up some of the Barnes TSX 85 gr to try out. I have them for Hogs here in west Texas and have no problems.

I don't think they make the moly coated anymore. The last ones I bought were not coated.
