Seeing several things where the smokeless ones are try to recruit. Just wondering if there are anymore out there like me that love busting a 4" target with iron sights and a patched round ball at 100yds and watching the smoke roll from the old "smoke pole". I guess when old age catches me, eyes is gone, and can't load one no more, then I might get me one of them fancy smoke poles oops smokeLESS poles. Just kidding I ain't going to get that old. Let me hear from some of you that still shoot the old stuff.

Killed my first muzzleloader buck in Rhea County with a side hammer 54 Cal Lyman. Although I hunt mostly with inlines now I still get a few days in with a sidehammer.

You can't beat us, so you might as well join us! lol

I still have my TC New Englander that I started muzzleloading with when I was 15. Still shoots good with 90 gr. of Pyrodex and a 300 gr. TC Maxi Hunter. She was top of the line back then. Even had the local gunsmith at the time to work the trigger over on her, despite his rants of "you don't need no hair trigger on a muzzleloader boy".

Killed 1st buck with cva wolf side hammer - I remember buying it for 60 bucks at Wal-Mart - Missed a doe last year and let a good 8 point get by me using a T/C Renegade - Iron sights changes the ballgame thats for sure.

Flintlock rifle, iron sights, real black powder, and patched round ball, that's the way I like it. I've never felt under gunned with this combination but I also know it's limitations and fully accept them.

I shoot them and do 95% of my hunting with them. I shot my .54 cal GPR flintlock week before last. Still don't have her dialed in just right, but she's coming around.

I built my first muzzleloader to hunt with from a kit I bought. It was pretty rough. I missed a spike in Hancock County with it that season. I was tore up. My next rifle was a New Englander. That rifle was great! Many, many deer fell to its boom over the course of a decade. I sold it (mistake) and bought a T/C Big Boar 58 cal. I have taken several deer with it over these past 13 years. In '05 I added an inline barrel to my 45-70 Handi-Rifle and have taken a lot of deer with it too. I recently acquired an Austin&Halleck which I plan to tote some as well.

I bought a 50 caliber Pedersoli Cabela's Kentucky Flintlock Rifle last Christmas. I have been getting in a lot of practice this summer and plan to try it out this deer season. I'm still a little uncomfortable with the iron sights. Probably since I have been shooting scoped rifles for so long.
