I will be fishing my first tournament this weekend out of Goose Pond. Heard great things about the area, I am not expecting to catch much but its free and I think will be fun. What should I use? I am aiming for numbers could careless about a big fish although would be nice. Like I said before river fishing has not been nice to me so basically just looking from some help from guys who may fish there. Thanks guys.

If your fishing a tournament, you have no chance of winning unless you can find some fish out on ledges. The good news is some of the best ledges on Guntersville are within sight of Goose Pond.

If your just wanting to catch fish, go behind Goose Pond and throw a spook or Pop R around the golf course. It's always good for a few bites. After that, you'll have to put a big plug, football head jig, or big worm in your hands and get out on the ledges. Unfortunately, the numbers games is starting to slow on Guntersville and it's turned into a more traditional deep ledge bite. A month ago I would have said throw anything you want, anywhere you want, and you will catch 30-50 bass, maybe more. It was that good. Now, you gotta find them deep. Keep in mind "deep" on Guntersville is relative.

Eat at Geno's while your there. If the fish don't bite, it's still a good trip with Geno's. \:D

I was down there last friday. The bite was slow until around 10 am. I ended up with 15 fish by 1 pm. Like others said get out on the ledges and fish big crankbait, jig or big worm.
