Headhunter,
That is why I was asking about putting one on that was bigger than it was rated for.
I want a yamaha but they have a BIG hole in their lineup in my opinion, if what I saw was accurate.
I kept looking and all I could find was either 25 or 40, nothing in between.

I will agree with TT to a point, I definately ain't after speed, just enough power to get back safely if the wind was to get up and I get caught out.
Just don't think a 25 will do it.

Thanks for everyone's input,,,, 'cept TT. He is an idiot.

I have a 9'6" kayak, a paddle, two arms, and one hand (I didn't mistype that). I've been on Pickwick lake within sight of the dam with a hard south wind rolling white caps down the river, and I did just fine.

I think 25 hp will do. Besides, what are life jackets for anyways? \:D

You may want to check with your insurance company on the maximum hp allowed. They used to allow a slight overage to accommodate gaps in the motor lineup like you are finding.

Mercury offers a 30 hp before jumping up to a 40. Keep in mind, like was posted before, it is probably a bit heavier than your 35 you have now. Yes, we sell just motors.

Go with the Merc fourstroke, you will not be disappointed. My 25 hp four stroke on my 16-48 grizzly tracker w ill push it about 27-28 mph according to GPS.Also quite and very easy on the gas.

I went out Sat and caught a few. Didn't get any bass just bluegill. There was about the most people out there I have ever seen since the opening day back about 1960. Lots of boats and bank fishers, but not too bad.

You and Man about ready to get up a trip to the White River for trout sometime this summer? I am still on to take y'all if you want to go sometime.
