What a day! Went to plow for the eagle beans and old tractor barely would pull disc. Made 3 rounds and the knocking began. Im afraid motor is shot. Cant get 48 years out of something. then loaded up and went home and had a flat on trailer. Then unloaded tractor in yard and was in a hurry because mother in law was there wanting me to get my kids so backed over neighbors fence. 3 hours later that was fixed. You cant help but laugh. I guess my farming is done for a while. Dont know if im gonna fix it or get another. Got some thinking to do.

I can relate to that! All my tractors were made between 1948 and 1950. The one I use for spraying and brodacasting seed has been having electrical problems for years - I just got that fixed Saturday - finally. It has a knock in the engine if you pull it really hard but no problem since I've started it using it only for spraying and seeding. My bush hog tractor is starting to have a bad exhaust valve leak as soon as it gets hot - hope to be able to "fix" that with a valve adjustment for now. I think I just got them too tight when i rebuilt the engine severa years back and hopefully no real damage has been done to the valve seats. Thankfully my biggest tractor that I use for disking still runs great. My disk is about worn out though. \:\(

So you're not alone operating with old stuff!

My farm is 70 miles from where I live and I don't own any farm equipment built after I was born (ok, maybe the sprayer). I consider any weekend I leave there with nothing additional to fix to be a successful weekend! Good luck. We've all been there......
