I have been no-tilling sunflowers for 4 years now. I have learned sunflowers do not seem to have the vigor that corn has. You will want to plant in a fairly clean field. If is overgrown and you spray and get a good kill the weeds will lay down and many times choke out the sunflower where something like corn will just push own through.A good pre-emerge is critical I use spartan and dual.

have done it many times, high dollars spent on cleaning fields, my theory "start clean stay clean" it works like a charm

try a late August burn down with Roundup and Direx, this mix will kill anything that made it through the summer and will stop seed from sprouting if you have a wet September, it will kill mairstail and pigweed

Good advice here for me for next year, thanks.

What do you recommend using post emergent for weed control?

Select, 12 ounces per acre, it only kills grasses

Glad you are on it. I will be ready to hunt when its time for the doves. Just a liitle payback for all the guided hunts I've took you on. LOL

I would be honored to have a UT legend in my field.
